Format: Standard Constructed (Standard)
Ah, winter in Minnesota. It is a time for snow, frigid temperatures, hot drinks, and much blood in a Holiday Tournament! It had been a while since we had played, and the last time it was a nightmare. For this little dance I decided to return to a much beloved affiliation of mine: the Borg. I hadn't played them in a long long time and now had new cards from the expansion "The Borg" to help matters. Razor turned out to be using a Ferengi/Bajoran deck that if I remember right, never mixes. It was curious, but it seemed to do the job well enough. The first game was really close, much more than the score would suggest. Razor had taken his sweet time during the seed phase and I laid into him for it, but now he'd pay. Bockers had called to see how the bloodbath was progressing. We stopped the timer with about 55 seconds left to play and Razor in the middle of a mission attempt. Razor went upstairs to find something and I told Bockers the predicament: I knew he had enough to get past the dilemma and solve the mission, it was just a matter of him finding the right personnel. He didn't, and I won a technical. All through the tourney I could not for the life of me get anything done right. Razor won the second one which suddenly gave us the realization that had he sped up that seed phase, he would be the winner now. This made him a little more irrate. I take it back, when he lost the third one he became irrate. So my deck was pathetic, but the dilemmas were good enough to keep Razor at bay. He has sworn revenge and I do not doubt his sincerity.
-Preceeding Summary by Fleet Admiral Benji, SCFA
Since Benji summed this one up pretty well, I won't editorialize a lot. This one oughta teach me to seed faster, and when it comes to timed games, I've never been much of a speed demon. Or would that be SEED demon... Anyways, I hope to get back into the swing of things and maybe (just maybe) I'll win a few more against Benji in the future. Hey, gotta love a tournament with nothing but technical victories!
